In a remarkable display of eloquence and critical thinking, SMP Islam Al Azhar 13 Surabaya has emerged victorious at the SMADA CELESTE  English Debate Competition 2025. The school’s ‘Talk2Ahwin’ team clinched the first winner title, ‘Teletubbies’ team secured the runner-up position and individually, Queensha Aulia Tarwoto was awarded the best speaker, underscoring the school’s commitment to excellence in English debating.

The ‘Talk2Ahwin’ team, comprising Anindita Ramadhani Putri, Queensha Aulia Tarwoto, and Rayhan Arkan Almadani, demonstrated exceptional debating prowess throughout the tournament. Their articulate arguments and cohesive teamwork propelled them to the top, earning them the coveted first-place trophy.

The ‘Teletubbies’ team, featuring members Damar Wuning Tunggadewi, Aluna Lakeisha Nashwa, and Divanya Azkia Muzakkir, also showcased impressive skills, navigating through challenging rounds to secure the second-place position.

The captain of Talk2Ahwin, Queensha Aulia Tarwoto, expressed immense pride in the teamwork, noting that teamwork contributed a lot to the victory. “Me and my teammates went through hours of practice. During the debate match, we tried so hard to build up strategies and support each other. Every moment of hard work that we’ve built along the way was worth it. We’re incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved.” she said.

The school fielded six teams in total (‘ZIGMA, Alpha Wolves, Chaotic Strikers, Rocket Three, Talk2Ahwin and Teletubbies’), all of which advanced to the quarterfinals. Notably, four teams—’ZIGMA,’ ‘Rocket Three,’ ‘Talk2Ahwin,’ and ‘Teletubbies’—progressed to the semifinals, resulting in an all-Al Azhar 13 semifinal lineup. This remarkable achievement highlights the depth of talent and dedication present within the school’s debate program.
